2022 Scholarship Recipients
A big part of our social impact mission is to empower young Indigenous people who are beginning their journey in entrepreneurship and technology. In 2015, we launched our Technology and Entrepreneurship Scholarship for Indigenous Youth. This year we doubled our number of scholarship recipients from two to four.
These scholarships provide $500 in funding to each recipient for books, tuition, or supplies for their post-secondary education. Thank you to all who applied for giving our team a great selection of applicants to choose from!

Meet our 2022 Scholarship Recipients below!
Technology Scholarship Recipients
James Intermela
James is of Ojibwe ancestry and a member of the Keeseekoowenin First Nation. He sees a place for himself in the business world as a First Nations person and finds inspiration in Indigenous artists, designers, and entrepreneurs he sees online.
Aside from his studies in the Associate of Science, Math and Computer Science Degree at the College of New Caledonia, James takes Aboriginal studies courses to learn more about his culture. His goals for the future are to own a business and make the business world more accessible to First Nations people.
Hailey Twin
Hailey is a member of the Swan River First Nation, and is currently taking an Indigenous Language degree at Yellowhead Tribal College.
Hailey is a member of Swan River First Nation, and is currently enrolled in the Indigenous Language Degree at Yellowhead Tribal College. She is passionate about Indigenous language revitalization, and sees the field as an essential method to fight the ongoing effects of colonialism and heal the traumas of Indigenous Peoples.
One day, Hailey hopes to complete a Master's degree and achieve fluency in nehiyawewin (Cree), and continue to use her skills in video and social media to share her journey and encourage other language learners.
Entrepreneurship Scholarship Recipients
Jessica Boucher-Cowie
Jessica is a member of the Manitoba Métis Federation, and she is currently enrolled in the Master's Of Development Practice: Indigenous Development program at the University of Winnipeg. She is passionate about community wellness and advocacy of Indigenous rights.
Jessica aspires to work in her home community of Winnipeg, to contribute to social, health, and economic advancement for Indigenous Peoples. She is also interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in the future and continuing to learn about Indigenous history and her heritage through her studies and work experience.
Jennica Campbell
Jennica is a Métis student who will be enrolled in a Registered Professional Counselling Program at Sprott Shaw College. She has a passion for learning about mental health due to facing her own challenges in the past, and hopes to help others by giving them tools to navigate through tough times. She has previously worked as an Education Assistant, and volunteered at a mental health centre and with children with disabilities.
