The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund was set up by Gord Downie through the Toronto Foundation both in remembrance of Chanie Wenjack and to support Indigenous Canadians. The fund supports the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and in part, is supported by the Secret Path media projects.
Before the fund’s launch, Animikii was approached to create its website as an in-kind sponsorship; our team was honoured to be approached and happy to provide this sponsorship to the The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. Our team always looks to support projects make meaningful, positive changes for Indigenous Peoples in Canada, and we believe that the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund does just that. The site that we built allows visitors to make donations to the fund directly through the “Canada Helps” engine. The website was designed to be simple and consistent with the Fund’s branding. It’s purpose is to showcase the fund’s history and the work that the fund has already undertaken. If you’d like to learn more about the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund or Animikii’s involvement on the project, please read our blog post on the project.
"We're honoured and grateful to have Animikii as a key partner with the Downie Wenjack Fund. The time and effort in donating their resources to a cause so close to our hearts are appreciated immensely. Their contribution to the Downie Wenjack Fund has ensured that we put our best digital foot forward in the long journey to Reconciliation in Canada." - Mike Downie
